There was a news story earlier in the year about Sony TVs in the Fall having a better Soc for running Android TV.
I haven't seen any recent updates though. Maybe someone here has an idea when such sets would launch.

They are available now.
Mid-range and low end sets will probably come late this year or early next year.
Here it is in action.
The just released the new z9 and a9f with their most power chip to date- x1 ultimate. Their current products line seems pretty jammed pack. I don’t see which model needs a fall refresh. So very unlikely but still possible.
As already stated it’s Sony’s Master Series that will have a much more powerful Mediatek chipset in it for running Android TV. They should already be on sale or very close to it.
The powerful GPU in that chipset should make Android TV fly if Mediatek and Sony can get decent quality Android TV Oreo Firmware in such new TV’s.
Sony is playing a game to rack in more cash on cheap parts. They recycled old parts in the x900F and called it new.
I don’t understand why they use cutting edge snapdragon 84x in smartphones that sell for less than $700 but use cheap and weak mediaTek SoCs in TVs sold for $3000 or more.
