Topic. Out of the 4k boxes I currently have, the Fire TV doesn't support h.265 and while the Mi Box does, neither support TrueHD audio so I have to settle for AC3.
Suggestions?

High bitrate 4K (h265/HEVC) video playback of Blurays needs a Gigabit LAN equipped device if you want ultimate streaming reliability in all situations.
Also for the best 1080p / 4K picture quality you need a device with either auto 1080p 4K resolution switching or a device that has great 1080p > 4K picture upscaling.
For Android TV devices, the Shield running Kodi Leia or MrMC has auto resolution switching. Have a read of the following thread and you will get a lot of info regarding the best media players for picture quality and HD audio support:

It’s actually the Apple TV 4K that will give you the best picture quality. Especially when you are doing mixed, mashed up 1080p SDR and 4K HDR video playback.
The optimised, tweaked MrMC App running on the Shield and Apple TV 4K has Plex database and Skin support. Works nicely indeed, especially the new, just released v3.7.0 Those combos will direct play anything.
I can't believe in saying this but if you are going to spend good $$$ you'd even go with apple tv, every androidTV device has some kind of bugs at the time. Not even shield is perfect.
I'm not saying apple tv will be perfect but better then best android tv device at least.
I thought I saw a setting in the fire menu for h.265 where h.264 is the default.
If you don't need streaming apps, the Zidoo X9S is a great option. Check out the Zidoo forums for more info, but you can get this one . It just needs a software reflash. I have one and it plays even more files than the Shield TV does.
Edit: well damn what did I do lol
Nvidia Shield. Period.
