Tvheadend deinterlacing working on Oreo

by elgenes

Is there a way to watch IPTV with a tvheadend client flawless on the Mi Box? I've read many places that Android+Tvheadend+deinterlacing is not working at all without stutter. I've tried several Kodi versions with tvheadend, tvheadend android channels plugin, VLC, MX player but none of them work 100%. VLC did almost work without stutter, but 1080i channels is not perfect. It annoys me like hell. Even the Kodi menu does stutter. I've tried stable, beta and nightlies.

I got a s912 box with Libreelec. Works perfect. Streams are mostly 1080i 7-15 mbit.

Is there hope?

No hope that I can see.

All AMLogic hardware will have deinterlacing problems when using any of the Android Apps like Live Channels, TvHeadend, Android Kodi Krypton / Leia, HDHomerun and others.

It's a known bug with AMLogic Android and has been going on now for nearly two years.

I watch a lot of fast action sport TV broadcasts and can see major problems with deinterlaced picture quality very easily. And yes I also use LibreELEC on an AMLogic S912, where it's all perfect.

Most people simply have no idea what to look for or what proper full motion high quality mpeg2 or h264 deinterlacing actually looks like.

Stick with LibreELEC, the AMLogic Android combo is garbage for interlaced TV usage, and yes that includes Oreo.
