Mibox purchase question

by diragono

So, I'm making the switch back to Android from Apple. Got my Pixel, wear os watch and now time to ditch my apple TV.

I bought a Nexus player from someone for $20. It still had plastic wrap on it. So far really like Android TV interface but it's really showing it's age. Navigating menus and such is pretty laggy. I don't really want to drop almost $200 for a shield, at least not right now, so I was gonna pick up a mibox. But apparently Walmart has stopped selling them.

Are there any stores that still sell them or some legit place? Most eBay sellers are asking like $90 and I read stories about getting an international version.

check the store inventory if you haven't https://brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker?sku=54827138

but walmart is the only official brick and mortar partner. so it's online-only if you none of your local walmarts have it.

Before you go buying a MiBox 3 you'd be well-advised to look into the recent history of the device and consider the fact there may be a good reason Walmart stopped carrying the product.

Get the MiBox from Walmart.. Just make sure your TV does HDCP 2.0 or else Netflix wont' work in 1080..

Aliexpress sells them for cheap. Get it. I bought one for my friend a week ago.

If I remember right, I think the Nexus Player actually had superior performance to the Mibox.

I'm not crazy, right?

I believe Amazon still sells them, but the price for a Mibox isn't worth it. There are several bargain Android Boxes with equal or even better specs and performance, for nearly half the price. The Nvidia Shield's price (albiet far higher) is justified for its superior specs and performance. Just look at all the benchmark mark comparisons. The Shield outperforms the best of them and still has the versitility of Android.

If you want android tv, get an Nvidia Shield. I have another android tv running Poison Rom. It's crap compared to the shield.
