What Android tv box to buy ?

by ssps15

I need a box to play 4k files with Dolby atmos/ DTS X through my denon avr. My budget is $100. Please help .

You should save more and get Nividia Shield. If budget issue still, get mibox. I would save that 100 you have and next check stack up. Then buy shield.

A heck of a deal on the Nvidia Shield.

Honestly, you should go with the shield it’s more costly but it’s better quality and support than these other cheap boxes.

Some jetstream thing was detailed today with an Ethernet port. Else youre going with discontinued hardware or a Nvidia shield. Wifi can't cut it IMO. I'm not even sure the shield supports those audios or passthrus.

Don't buy the Mibox. I have one. Trust me.

The only real answer is the Nvidia Shield. It's stellar!

good luck

MiBox will be the bare minimum for 4K and HDR. Shield will cost more, but will do it all.

NVIDIA SHIELD !!!!

Hi. I am selling my Nvidia Shield on eBay right now for 160 but I am willing to go for a bit less. If you want a link to it send me a chat message.

Your budget is too low to be happy with your purchase. I just bought a Shield and while the price stung a little bit, I do not regret it at all. I'm the type of person that gets annoyed with sluggish menus and things that do not perform as promised. This thing delivers. It's snappy and everything just works. It's powerful enough to play games that rival console quality as well as Kodi or game emulators. Pretty much anything you want.

Shield. Don't settle for anything else, you won't be happy.

Just dont go for the mibox. Its a brick after the Oreo.

You need to get 3-4 GB ram to run 4k content.

I have Mi Box but it barely able to sustain high bit rate full HD videos.

Otherwise it works great. It has replaced my cable connection over 1.5 years. I play Youtube, Amazon prime and other local content all day.

I would suggest to get a android box with 4GB ram (If available). That would able to suffice your needs. Otherwise as other's suggested go for Nvidia Shield.

Reliable High bitrate 4K Bluray Rips with lossless HD audio like Atmos streaming, needs Gigabit aka 1000m LAN or a directly connected hard drive.

So what are you planning on using ?

The Mi Box will not help because it's audio passthrough support is buggy as hell.

You best bet is a regular AMLogic S912 Android Box with Gigabit like a Tanix TX92 or similar and then run LibreELEC Kodi Krypton on it from a USB stick or SD card.

That combo will handle anything you throw at it.
