MiBox 2303 update issue - slow performance after sleep

by Sponplat

After the 2303 update my box is pretty much useless after sleep. It's so slow that I can't use it unless I reboot it. After a reboot it's snappy again.

It's getting very frustrating having to reboot my box everytime I'm gonna use it.

Anyone have the same experience after the 2303 update?

It was fine before the update.

I had issues like this even before the update

I'm experiencing the same thing since the update. Everything was fine up until then. No idea how to fix it other than rebooting..

Mine's been plagued with this since the Oreo update. The recent patch didn't fix it. Hard resets don't fix it.

I have noticed I can alleviate it a bit if I don't go to the homescreen before putting it to sleep. If I stay in an app and sleep it, I can usually get it to take up. I counted 16 back button presses yesterday to wake it up, it did wake up. Even using this method it will still randomly not wake up or lag really bad requiring a reboot at least a couple times a week it seems.

This hasn't happened with mine yet, but thanks for the heads up. I don't think we're all getting the same experience. For me, the Mi Box has become a player for local files on an external HDD. That's it, and I'm considering a Shield. I use an Apple TV 4K for streaming.

Hdmi cec worked for me, thanks...

I’m now a 2 shield home. Too bad because it really was a great device when it was working. I ended up giving it away.

Have you tried these steps?

Solution 1

Enable developer options by tapping 6x build in about.

Enable stay awake in developers options.

Disable hdmi cec in mi box settings to disable auto sleep.

Your mi box wont sleep and stable.

Solution 2

Unpair all bluetooth devices and Xiaomi Remote.

Remove battery in xiaomi remote to disable auto pairing in remote.

Use 2.4Ghz usb wireless touchpad and mouse combo to control mi box.
Your mi box wifi is now stable.

Yes! The box becomes incredibly laggy after sleep ever since the update. The only thing that works is to reboot it like you mentioned.
What's more, they haven't fixed the "wifi disconnected" issue and I have to mash the buttons on the remote about 50 times to get it out of sleep. Incredibly frustrating!

The same. I have this problem since before the 2303 update. I did a factory reset but nothing changed, the problem continues. I have tried to install another launcher (TVLauncher), and the problem occurs less often. Maybe an application uses 100% of CPU. Install some APP to monitor the system processes could uncover the problem.

I am getting this since 2303!! Any fixes yet?

Yeah I have to constantly reset to get the box snappy again. Netflix just stutters unless I do a reset everytime. Totally sucks. I didn't update my other mibox to oreo and it works perfectly fine.

Luigi_ra

Any news about this? I have this same issue n start to bother me a lot!

Luigi_ra

The s is the same hardware, so, if it works fine then is a fixable software issue

GabrielNs

I have the same issues and I can replicate any time by putting it to sleep and only after restarting it is usable again. I hope it gets fixed soon.

Have you found any solution other than reboot?

My box is updated to latest version and have the same lag after back from sleep.

Since the first Oreo update I've had the wake after sleep issue on both my miboxes now I'm having the same issue as op described with the newest updates. Its super slow after waking and I have to restart it. Have not tried hard reset yet

Everytime this things get updated it fixes one thing and breaks another it seems

Hdmi cec worked for me too, i enabled this option both on my TV and mi box and the problem is solved now.

Tigerbeer72

Same problem here, very sluggish after sleep... performance are good when i reboot. i just bought it for 1 week, now i consider change for another Box... unless an update or trick can solve this!

Solenya_111

I had the same issue with a new Mi Box S and latest 8.1 updates. Somehow i could fix it by deleting the es-file-explorer app. I dont know how it relates to this app. But since two days my mi box s works fine and smooth after standby.

Guys, i have mi box 3 and when i enable HDMI CEC i have problem that my mibox just wakes up randomly... when i wake up in the morning i see my tv turned on... :/ and i have same issue.. when i turn on my mibox it is unusable... and i installed only Kodi... i really dont get it :/ now i turned on "Stay awake" option and turn off HDMI CEC option and i hope it will be ok. Problem with this settings is that now i cannot wake my tv thru Google Home by voice :(

Try a factory reset, I know it's annoying but this shouldn't happen. Mine doesn't do this at all.
