Do other Android TV powered TV brands use the same crappy custom menus?

by FezVrasta

Hey guys, It's been few weeks since I finally switched from an old Philips Google TV to a new Philips Android TV.

There is one thing that annoys me quite a bit, is that the settings menu of the TV don't match with the ones of Android TV, they are simply completely off.

Do all the brands implement settings menu that have nothing to do with the Android TV design or it's just Philips?

Doesn't Android TV provide some unified experience for TV manufacturers?

Is it the one shown here?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2x6o3EJ2ozc

Seems to be a Phillips thing, Sony one is like this and is actually part of the main Android TV settings: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/sony-tv-settings-guide,review-5605-17.html

I get downvoted every time I mention what a POS the software on Philips TVs is, but what the heck. It's a Philips thing. And it sucks.

It's getting better, expect this fixed/consistent in newer ones.

The one from the Youtube video linked does not look half bad. It looks like a "proper" TV settings I would say.
