Walmart putting Mibox on clearance for $49

by watchyirc

I know some of you are fans of this piece of shit but I just thought i'd let you know, Walmart is clearancing them currently at $49. Its rolling out now. They will eventually go cheaper as this is the first clearance. It may not be cheap in your neck of the woods yet but it will be.

To bad no ones cracked the boot loader. With that Cortex-A53 it'd probably run a lightweight Linux desktop.

They're going for $64 near me. Might pick up a spare for the basement. I've had zero problems with mine.

Why you gotta call it names? The MiBox had a decent run and is still a nice streamer.

Great deal if you want a 1080p streaming box with the ability to play files off an HDD. You could do worse.

Here comes the Mi Box S

This $49 price is extremely random.

I'm actually in the market for an Android TV box but I have no idea what to get. This always catches my eye when I come across it at Walmart, and it's right in my price range.

Does it have 8.1? I just want it for Netflix, YouTube, Google Play Movies, and YouTube TV. I have a 4K TV but I don't really care about resolution when streaming. It'll be connected via Ethernet. Anyone recommend this based on that info?

Or, should I just wait until after the Google event next month? I have a feeling there's gonna be something Android TV related there. Thanks!

Very cool

I'm all for more people getting Android TV so more apps get made. Don't care what people use. I started on the mi box I like ATV so I got a shield too. Yeah the shield shits all over this but just get the OS in more people's hands please.

Hrm, I'd almost buy one just to add to my collection. I'll wait for $40 or less. It'd be neat to tinker with it and form my own opinion of the device.

Just curious, how did you obtain this info and the screenshot?

It's a nice little box to have. I had to turn the cec off bc it was dominating the ports on my TV. Also, I wouldnt recommend running it in 4k mode. Puts a drag on the UI.

$64 in my area... Northern California...

Walmart pays $17 bucks each? I'll take 10

watchyirc

FYI i'm predicting they will drop as low as $17. Theres plenty of stock also so i'm guessing a lot of us can grab them at $17. I know i'll pick up a few.
