MDZ-16-AB pulling up touch GBoard keyboard instead of regular one. I can't type with the remote

Hey all,

Struggling with my one week old Mibox. Initially the keyboard worked great, but now, on apps that use the native keyboard for searching (like Twitch and the Android Market) the OS pulls what looks like a regular cellphone touch keyboard. This keyboard is not operable with the remote and the layout resembles more what you find on your cellphone than the regular TV keyboard that used to appear.

I have not sideloaded any additional keyboards. It's the native GBoard keyboard.

I have the same issue, even on the latest firmware update.

To get around it I use a Rii mini keyboard w/touchpad.

Enable Japanese GBoard input and it will let you select the GBoard keyboard. Disable Japanese input afterwards.

I hated the new Oreo keyboard, so downloaded a leanback keyboard from Google Play (search leanback keyboard).

The downloaded keyboard looks and acts exactly like the MM version. Works great with remote and bluetooth keyboard.
