A question about the Mi Box.

by tr0jance

I'm planning on buying the latest version of Mi Box and I'm wondering if there is a way to power it via the USB port in my TV. I know there are cables like the one on the PSP to connect to the Mi Box, but I'm wondering if a USB port in the TV could power it, has anyone tried this already?

Short answer: No, not on a TV.

Long answer: If you bother to look at the power supply that comes with the Mi Box, you see that it requires 5.2V & 2.1A & thus have your answer in writing.

it's Plausible. You can try to cut power adapter and joint it to USB . But make sure you have high power usb . MI box adapter says 5.2v - 2.1A

I doubt it. Mi Box uses a round plug for power, not USB. Besides USB port on TVs usually only give about ~0.5-1A [citation needed], just enough to spin a hard drive.

You could try splicing cables like the other person say though.
