On which apps are you watching those sports? Shield is the best unless your definition of Android box is something else.

Buy shield and subscribe to r/IPTV provider, most of them are support Android app like IPTV smarter, siptv, perfect player.

You could go the HTPC route. I find kodi and acestream works best on it.

Assuming you live in ontario, check in to the mall cell shops... many of them will sell you an android box for under $100 with a $15 monthly subscription that you can prepay with cash. That'll get you toronto sports and a bunch of channels.

As many other have mentioned the nvidia shield is the maserati of android tv boxes, but you'll have to find a service for the tv channels. It runs android tv, which is a supported android fork for televisions. Most of the $80 boxes run a modified phone version of android and you'll find it difficult at times to use the clicker to punch in text or get apps from google play. Most apps will neither be available from google play for the box or be clicker friendly.

I don't have a shield box but I understand it's a different sort of difficult for getting android apps. Many apps havent been officially ported for android tv. So, pick your poison.

I have a Shield and used to cast from a PC but the Puffin browser works with a remote so I can pull up the streaming subreddits right form my couch.

Android boxes for TVs surprisingly do not run AndroidTV What you are looking for is probably a Kodi box. So this is probably a question for another sub
