For your basic needs, get a MECOOL M8S Pro L running Nougat Android TV 7.1.2 It noticeably faster vs a Mi Box, and definitely a lot more bug free and stable.

If you have an HD or UHD capable tv, and wish to run Netflix streams at maximum resolution, you need to pay close attention to the complement of DRM features supported by your devices.
Netflix insists that both the streaming box AND your attached screen have proper DRM features, else Netflix will not operate beyond SD resolution, if at all.
You may be a good candidate for one of the Amazon Fire TV devices if you don't want to do further, more extensive research.
Kodi works across a wide range of devices but Netflix is an unusual case with many caveats applying to the streaming box AND the attached screen.
There are two actively supported android tv boxes the shield tv and Mi Box the shield comes with an ethernet port, better performance but is expensive, the Mi Box has not ethernet connection out of the box is fairly powerful and a lot cheaper. If you want the best and most powerful go for the shield tv if you want the budget option go for the limited performance of the Mi Box
