The hub is the same no matter what remote it comes with also you can add any remote sold with the hub at any time. I have used not only the hub based remotes but the ir remotes(650,700) as well they both work great only thing missing is voice.

I use the Mi Box with a Logitech Companion remote. Also paired with Alexa. Works great.
