Rant: Google, Please Bring Parity To Ambient Mode On AndroidTV

Google,

Please bring feature parity to Ambient Mode (backdrop) on AndroidTV. I shouldn't have to pay $60 for a chromecast ultra just because I want to show my Google Photos on my TV. Also, it would be super cool if I could turn my TV on and off using google assistant.

good luck its been like that for over a year and google does nothing to fix it let alone document it so people know what the short comings of chromecast built in are compared to an actual chromecast

I prefer parity between Android Ambient Mode and new Google Home Hub. I have screens in every room with Android TV that can operate with Assistant. On idle the beautiful pictures are nice but not useful. I would prefer proactive big cards of info like weather, calendar, traffic, news titles etc like the new Google Home Hub. The big screens of our homes must become more smart not a Netflix players.

Pretty sure that's mostly Sony's fault. A Chromecast ultra was the best purchase I've made for my Vizio with built in Chromecast- it was never going to be updated at the same pace as the ultra.

There are apps that do a great job.

It is supported on the Shield so i can only assume its not googles issue but Sony's
