Whenever I try to turn on my mi box with the remote, nothing happens. I always have to turn it on by unplugging the power cable and plugging it in again. Does anyone have any fixes?

Mine does the same. It's annoying.
my mibox does that too with oreo. interesting thing is only own remote is unavaible to turn on mi box. other all bluetooth devices can turn on mi box and remote starts working after turning on mi box. example: open bt mouse and click randomly and mi box will turn on and remote starts working after that.

this glitch was fixed in a very early internal build of Oreo but mysteriously re-appeared with OTA build 2303. 2303 was released with absolutely NO 3rd party testing.
Takes me about twenty button makes to turn it on. Just keep hammering them.

Ive only turned off my mibox like 2 times since oreo. Im afraid something like this would happen
I had the same issue.. I disabled Error msg auto switch off and no more issues. But I did get a serious error message yesterday...

Spam the middle ”OK” button + home button (the one with the circle” and it will turn on. Usually on first or second press.
I ended up putting mine on a wifi plug so I could just reboot it whenever it hangs, which has been pretty much daily since Oreo.
Try just spamming all the remote buttons. I do have to unplug and plug again from time to time, but usually the spam thing works
