Video casting to my 55PUS8303 from Windows 10

by PseudoY

As far as I can tell, both my laptop and my TV should be certified for it. However, when I try, the TV responds, but after a bit of loading comes to the conclusion that "file can not be read or found", Meanwhile, the "cast to device" windows program says there's an "Unexpected device error".

I tried a .mkv, .mp4 and .avi video - all the same.

Any advice?

Edit: Slight correction, it's a *49*PUS8303

I would check with Philips. My friend has a pos9002 and can't cast to it and Philips said its a big in the sets most recent firmware abs will be fixed in the next update.

Could be the sane for yours

Install kodi and enable dlna/upnp, then in windows 10, right click the file and find play to.. Kodi should show up as long as you're on the same network, click on it and wmp opens up as a playlist with controls while the file plays on tv through kodi

I'm assuming you have AndroidTV cause you mentioned chromecast, you can install/sideload apps?

Google Cast aka Chromecast Built-in is different from Microsoft's "Cast to..." option in Windows 10 which uses the DLNA and Miracast protocols. If you're dealing with video files, use Plex and cast from within Chrome. Or just use the Android TV app for Plex and browse your content from the couch.

If you only cast the random internet video file and don't want to maintain a library, maybe look at Videostream to cast video files stored locally on the PC.
