Any guide to flashing 2179 on the mi box3? Just got my mibox a few days back. It is on 6.0.1 but has so many bugs. Wifi sometimes doesn't transfer any data even though it says that it's connected. Heard people saying 2179 is a great build. So a guide and links to this process would be appreciated.
2179 made my mibox inoperable after a day or two. i flashed it earlier this week. unless xiaomi releases a stable WORKING oreo update, stay on 6 or call it a bust and get something else. my nexus player is still rocking and has been a reliable back up. shield, firetv, roku, or apple tv are your other readily available options(listed these in order of my preference for possible replacements). is what it is.
try bumping up to MM build 1901. That is the latest official Android 6 build, released July 2017.
Don't forget to full system reset before and after flashing
I just received a warranty replacement for a MiBox, it came with 6.0.1 and it seems the Oreo update was pulled. I did the on-line chat with Xiaomi and they said I should just "wait for the updated patch." I could not get them to tell me what version it is, but I'm cautiously hopeful it'll be the 8.1 build from the new MiBox, although any patch for Oreo would be helpful at this point.
If i were you I would not update.

It is far from great. It's a bit better than 2303 which is shit. Stay on 6 till they fix Oreo (hopefully).
