Shield Tv doesn't wake sometimes

by drthh8r

Once in a while, my Shield won't wake with my TV. I have a my Harmony remote but I'm sure that's not the problem. When it doesn't wake with TV, even it's original remote doesn't work. Anyone run into this? This is probably the most aggravating thing. Only fix is it unplug the power and plug it back in.

Edit: 3rob3 mentioned a CEC bug with volume controls. Since I have a harmony remote, I disabled all CEC options including power and volume. I'll update everyone if this works. Might take a while though since it happens once a week or so.

I have a Mi Box, but this is exactly the most a angering issue I have with my device.

I have this issue about once every two weeks. Same fix, reseat the power cable and start again. Not sure if it's common enough to raise the issue with Nvidia.

It's a CEC bug they have aknowledged. While obviously not ideal, turning off CEC volume control will fix it.

Hmm, it started happening to me as well recently. Touching the power button wakes it at the end.

Hasn't happened to me, yet. 2017 Shield 16GB

Anytime I've run into strange and uncommon issues a factory reset usually fixes it.

what are you using for daydream/screensaver/ambient mode ? i had results like this with 'backdrop' on my atv. going to 'none' made wake much more reliable.

BTW for people who don't want to disable CEC, I read a post where someone said spamming the back button works. I just tried it out as I ran into the issue this morning. Had to hit 20 times or so and it worked! For me, I was hitting the exit button on harmony remote.

I believe it is a kernel issue with the new Oreo version of the OS. They're using a really shitty kernel version that has a lot of issues. Same problem with MiBox Oreo update.
