I'm not a big fan of manufacturers putting dedicated app buttons on hardware.
Just got mine today and after about a half hour the remote flat out stopped working. Tried 5 different sets of batteries and none work. Tried to unpair, but that actually unpaired my phone too... So now I can't even get in to the device to wipe and return. I bought another one that I'll pick up tomorrow, and try that remote. If that one dies then I'm thinking there is some serious QC issue with the remote. I've never had a product fail so fast. Hope I just got a bad one because I was liking it as I was setting it up.
Edit: 2 typos
Anyone tested this with Prime Video or DirectTv Now?
I would love to buy the dam box but none to be found in my area. ( So Calif).
Nice review! I picked up one this morning, but I will need to return it because it doesn't do YouTube TV at 60 fps. The highest it will go is 30 fps. Football looked painful without 60 fps. Otherwise, it seemed OK -- not nearly as good as Shield, but nothing is.
Good review. Thanks.
What about a 4K high bitrate bluray rip? It’s great that it can do 4K YouTube and Netflix. Bet it chokes on high bitrate 4K rips like the Mi Box
Sucks that HD audio doesn’t appear to work! Maybe will work with patch...
Also where is the resolution settings in the settings app? Did they move it down the list? Usually it’s like 2nd or 3rd on the list.
Got mine last week. Haven't tried to sideload Amazon yet but other than that, it has done everything that I expected it to (youtube, Netflix, Plex and DCu). I also got an IP cam viewer and replaced my steam link with the app on this box. Works nearly the same but should go up to 4k if I add a 4k monitor at the pc. Most of the issues with that seem to be on the steam end of things.
Voice commands work at the remote or via phone or home mini. The reviewer seems really hung up on the $10 difference in price over the mi box but having the ethernet and another USB port is worth that. Honestly, the only negative things are the odd choices of pre-installed apps (which were mostly removable) and was that I had to go to 2 different Walmarts to find one.
Is there any way to buy this in europe?
Is there a place in Canada that I can buy this?
another piece of Chinese junk. Nothing new here
I cannot believe they give the default option of installing the worst POS imaginable - the ES File Explorer App that has caused Android TV users numerous really annoying problems over the years !
XPlore is the one to use.
People would be mad buying the new WiFi only Mi Box over this Jetstream, which has far better connectivity options included on the device.
