WHY AndroidTV doesn't come with a browser?

by horizonrave

Hi,

please WHY do you think a company like Google didn't include a browser in it's OS for TVs?

I don't understand..

I found some guides for intalling Chrome/Firefox, are they hacks or what? And do they decrease the security of our devices?
Many thanks :)

Because most people don't use their TV to browse the web.

You can find the puffin browser in the play store now

Puffin Browser works great

Because you can use Google Cast. It doesn't only work for specific apps but also a browser window. I'm using a shield though. Not sure if it works for other AndroidTV implementations.

They don't think a remote is the best input device for a web browser. You're welcome to try the Puffin TV browser though.

Try puffin browser

Try Puffin browser for Android TV, it is amazingly fast. I noticed it loads streaming videos slower than other browsers but just for browsing is the best til now. Here’s a link: https://www.puffinbrowser.com/puffin-tv/intro/

You can find it in android tv play store also. Cheers! :)

It's because Chrome is RAM-hungry so wouldn't run on 99% of Android TV devices. Believe me if they could they would!

My Philips has a browser. It's probably Opera (never actually opened it because what's the point?!).

Andrroid

Because it's a TV OS, not a computer.
