Hi all, just bought a brand new Mi Box 3 with preinstalled 6.0.1 firmware version. This is my second Mi Box box and on the first one I had no problems upping to 8 (had connectivity problems afterwards though, but fixed that with a more powerful router). However, on this one it just says that the system is up to date. Any ways to overcome this?
If you're a Jackbox player please note that Android 8 will break functionality of Guesspionage game . No fix available. Same thing happened when Google Nexus players got the Oreo update.
Contact Xiaomi after sales support or Not....
Wait for the official release of Mi Box S and hope that a 8.1 update will be out also for us owners of a mibox 3 (they're basically based on the same hardware)

I attempted to manually update to android 8 on my Mi Box 3 and am now stuck in the recovery menu, anyone know if this can be fixed?
Update to Android 8 was pulled (suspected due to bugs). Good. Stay on 6! :)
If you want to manually upgrade, look for the 2167 & 2179 builds and manually update. I've been on 2203 and now on 2179, and I regret updating both boxes.
