I asked youtubetv why I was getting only 30fps and this is their response.

If you are running this device at a 4K screen resolution, make sure you are using a HDMI 2.0 port on the connected TV or AVR.
HDMI 1.4 is limited to 4K@30Hz aka 30fps
Not a YTYV user myself, but you'd think a licensed androidTV box would be recognized. Still leaning towards buying one, but this may delay that decision. Again not because I use YTTV, but because it makes me wonder how much support this box will have.
Edit- Have you tried casting to it in 60fps?
Ask them again and tell them you have Xiaomi MiBox MDZ-16-AB, a legit, official AndroidTV box. See if that draws a different reply.
Update:
After a few days of using the new Jetstream device, I have not run into any issues. Hopefully the 30 fps on some apps that should be 60 will be corrected the way they were with the Mi Box. Again its not completely lag free like the shield, but it is surprisingly close. If any problems arise, will update here.

You may be in luck in the near future.
Solution is now available. See this link: https://www.reddit.com/r/youtubetv/comments/9wjznh/60fps_on_mi_box/
You're getting a canned customer service response, don't read into it at all. The Jetstream is an official Android TV device. That's not to say it is/isn't bug free - but it is official, even if shitty.
