For the longest time I would be unable to connect to several of my Nexus Players with the stock AndroidTV remote app. You would select Manage Connection and then the appropriate player and it would just go straight back to the list of players.
I finally figured out how to fix it. On the nexus player, go to settings, Apps and the find the Android Remote Service under system apps and click on it. Select Clear Data and then try to link the remote again.
For anyone coming here for a fix, and realizing the above doesn't work here's what to do. Uninstall the updates , then disable then enable. This will work
I've had mixed results with this too. I've gone so far as to reset cache, restart phone and restart the nexus player. Even then I've had problems.
I wish I knew what caused the error specifically. I've tried giving the device a static IP on the network. Played with wireless channels. Nothing prevents it.
