Find a good box

by Thatredditguy23

I am looking for an Android TV box, however I'm relatively new to the Android TV scene. I don't really know what is good and what is not. I would like a TV box that is somewhat high-powered and is under the $100 limit. Is this possible? Also I have a 1 terabyte SATA drive, can I use that with the TV box?

(Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask)

Under $100, your choices are going to be the MiBox/MiBox S or the Ematic Jetstream. They're both fairly similar hardware-wise, but I think the Jetstream has more USB ports available, so it might be the better option if you're planning to use external storage.

If you really want high-powered, you want the Nvidia Shield, but it doesn't come cheap. You might be able to get it in the $130-140 range if you can get a refurb or get it on sale.

Those are pretty much all the options you can get in the US.

Nvidia shield, buy once and be done.

I'm using the Jetstream for a few days now. It's been fine for what I need. I had nothing but issues with my Mi box.

If in the USA get the Jetstream Ultra 4K, it will be the most stable device under $100 you can buy.

Xiaomi with the Mi Box is a complete lottery, and they do not have a good track record with Firmware updates either.

A SATA drive will work if you put it in a USB enclosure/case.
