Volume buttons work?
yep same no fire device just my shield paired immediately no problems
Without having the new fire stick to program the IR commands, mostly everything works with the exception of voice. The mic button triggers Google assistant, but audio isn't detected. I tried just pressing the button like we do with the standard shield remote and holding the button like we do on previous fire TV remotes, but it doesn't pick up any audio.
Every other button seems to work. The select button is mapped to dpad_center and not enter, so it's accepted by all apps. The menu button worked with the apps I've tested. Play/pause, ffw and rwd all worked within YouTube.
It would be a great remote if I could get the mic to work.
Edit: only tested on 2015 16GB Shield. Will test it on the 2017 16GB variant in about an hour.
Edit 2: no difference on the 2017 variant. Audio isn't detected.

Some people claim that they have voice working and everything. Might want to check it out see if you can figure out why voice isn't working as well.
