Xiaomi Mi Box Build 2390

by Buckethead54

Hi it seems that a new OTA is available on the Mi Box (security patch October 2018).

Could anyone test and say if this update finally fix all the problem the Oreo update has brought (WiFi, remote, WiFi speed, freezes, hd compatibility, lags, apps compatibility,etc...)

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience which will help us to know if this update is finally the one we all expected

Here's a screenshot with the release notes:

https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/ota4-rc1-build-2390-new-update.47376/

(to save folks from clicking, I've typed it out):

[OTA4 RC1] Fix some critical issues:

  1. Enhance HDMI compatibility
  2. Improve WIFI performance
  3. Resolve a few bug when working with usb webcam.

So far (in the US) I haven't seen the update on my mibox3. If someone has the direct link to the image, I can give it a try.

Thanks!

Thank god they fixed the webcam issues

Just updated, the only bug that really caught my atention since Oreo is the remote not being able to turn on the mibox... and it continues despite this new update

Let me guess, no remote fix, no lockup/lag fix? 🤣

I'd like to but a previous update killed MiBox

I guess this is available only for beta testers. Not rolled out for everyone.

How's Netflix 5.1 audio?

dekomote

Some initial investigation by me:

  • Setting video resolution to auto still sets the box to 720p 60Hz (on a 4k LG TV) - same as before

  • Netflix (with DD+ capable receiver) still experiences dropouts.

  • HDMI total adaptation turned on, the judders, frameskips and dropouts are still observable on both Netflix and Kodi

  • Audio dropouts on DD+ videos on Kodi.

  • Didn't experience any wifi disconnects, but too early to tell.

India, didn't receive any update. Let's hope it fixes the infamous oreo bugs.

maybe they're doing a slow roll-out of the OTA update

Does it stop the boot loop/bricking that has rendered 3 of my 4 MiBoxes inoperable? Fortunately, 3rd one will be replaced under warranty as of today and #1 already back with 6.0.1 and #2 in transit; but I mean, this is pretty bad... #4 is just a ticking time bomb unless a new OTA fixes it in time. *sigh*

what we need to know about wifi/usb ethernet for 2390:

if you had no problems on oreo before, do you have new problems now?

if you had problems before, are they fixed?

Latest build (official OTA) Recognise my TV

WIFI (router is 2.4G) doesn't work as soon as I manually change the resolution to 1080 or 4k. WIFI will work if screen is set to Auto but it will be 720p. Anyone have the same issue?

Now my WIFI is dead...

After installing the update I immediately noticed a drop in my Wi-Fi speeds. So much so that, now I can't even stream a movie at 1080 p from my plex server locally. This is specially bad because since the last f*** up, the update that they gave somewhere around 2 months ago fixed all of the issues that I had with my box. Now again almost everything is usable except streaming from my plex server, the one thing I actually use this box for.

How do you look up the build I see under build a big number OPR6.170623.013.2396

The thing is I'm on the same room as the mi box with my phone and on WiFi 5G on my phone I get 100 Mbps but on the mi box and get 50mbps

Is this the correct behavior or something wrong? In this build I posted the wifi should be fixed? I remember the mi box being able to get the 100 no problem.

All other devices run 100mbps

I have the October patch also...
