Anti-alaising setting?

Upgraded Nexus Player to Ematic AGT418 (AKA Jetstream 4k Android TV Box) and I'm noticing a lot of jagged edges when playing back DVD rips (direct play). On same TV/receiver my Xbox One does not have this issue. Also, Nexus Player did not have this issue.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? Could it be an issue with the current version of the Plex ATV app?

looks like you might have it set to 480p instead of 1080p. Check your video output settings.

I suspect the (AMD) GPU in the Xbox One has way superior hardware upscaling or is using superior software picture upscaling vs the cheap Jetstream.

As well - NVIDIA hardware have been known for having some of the worst hardware picture upscaling vs nearly everything else, even on their game oriented GPU cards. The Nexus Player's - Imagination PowerVR GPU (a variant also used in the Apple TV's) is much better.

Try Kodi and then also install the PlexKodiConnect Addon.

The MrMC App can also directly tap into the Plex database as well.

Both Apps will do all the decoding on the Jetstream and not fuck (transcode) with the video streams like the Plex App possibly is doing.

A warning here, if DVD rips contain interlaced content you will not get good results on any AMLogic hardware running Android (and using Mediacodec), simply because the deinterlacer used is not very good with that combo.

The SPMC App might give better results if you fiddle with it's mpeg2 software decoding options. (use HD and above) Then play around with the OSD video options > deinterlace method whilst a DVD plays.
