Apple TV App alternative for Android?

by nu1mlock

Hi,

I'm somewhat invested in the Android ecosystem with my family having Android phones, I'm using TV's with Android TV, boxes like Xiaomi Mi and have ordered an Nvidia Shield, having several Google Home Mini's etc.

But what I'm missing from Android is a way to control my Android TV experience in a way similar to Apple's "Apple TV App".

I haven't used it, but it seems to be a great way to quickly find the content I want and also being able to kind of use a tablet as a great remote.

The way I interpret it is that there's one app that I can use to, for example, search for a movie, the app will find it on one of my on-demand services and I can start playing it on my TV from there.

I don't want to have to open five apps and search for a movie five times before being able to watch it.

Thanks!

The Apple TV app really doesn't do what you're asking for in practice either.

The Android TV Oreo launcher actually pulls in content like this, but it's piecemeal, same as any other solution in this space. It's really not in any mainstream provider's business interest to dis-aggregate their content from their own user interface.

Do you mean something like Kodi?
