Jetsream doing the job after 2 weeks of use

by 43Nate43

My household was 3 mibox 3 units for streaming. One with a USB wired Ethernet adapter. Of course, all three tanked, and I revived them several times. I chose the Jetstream as an equivalent replacement.

I'm not asking much of my boxes, so I'm not willing to go with a shield.

I have 2 Jetstream boxes running on wired internet, and they simply do what I needed them to do, be like the miboxes in functionality. They are accomplishing that goal.

I can't speak for the WiFi as I'm lucky enough that the builder ran Cat5e in my house and I built a proper network.

I haven't had to pull the power cable on either box, and haven't discovered any bugs that stand out. However, I'm used to Android TV and may overlook small nags.

The purpose of this quick message is to give someone on the fence about using the Jetstream as a stand in for their melt down mibox info they likely will be satisfied. At least, that's my impression after 2 weeks.

Both of my Mi Box's are going on two years and still working like they should. Once one or both die, I'll most likely switch to the jetstream.

Ran cat5e in your house...as in like there's an ethernet cord coming out of a wall in every room? Just curious! What kind of router do you have?

I'm new to the family having just picked mine up a couple days ago, and I was worried I'd have to run some cable to my office where it's located. No problems so far though, and this is the absolute worst room in my house for connections. It's replacing an Amazon Fire stick that just always had the hardest time staying online, so when the remote went kaput I decided to invest in something more versatile.

Hello. I have to agree with you. I have a Mibox, a Nexus player, and a 2nd gen Fire tv. I picked up this device over three weeks ago now and it has performed beautifully. I watch Live channels often with it using my HD homerun network tuner as one source and another connected to my NAS through TVHeadend. It just flies through channels as I flip up and down. The DVR also works great. The device wakes up for any schedule recordings without issue. I tested it several times. I do use my Synology Diskstation NAS and TVHead and for the more complicated scheduling tasks.

The extra USB ports, Lan port, analog audio video ports, Digital A/V ports, all come in quite handy and work as expected. I've had no problems with surround sound Dolby Digital which is fully licensed on this device unlike some much more expensive Devices.

After having some issues for a while with the MiBox Power button, I can tell you this power button rocks and wakes that jetstream up almost instantaneously. Also, though I use Ethernet primarily, I was forced to use the Wi-Fi continuously for two days. I experienced no interruption with my connection.

All in all this is shaping up to be a great value in a terrific device. Oreo 8.1 helps I'm sure, along with firmware that hasx been truly tested and made ready. Seriously. And, once again the Jetstream shows how versatile and stable the s905x SoC can be.

The jetstream could very well end up deserving a nice pat on the back at the end of the day . The air sometimes can come across a little snobbish around here at times. I read several posts from users who seemed all too eager to write-off this box sight-unseen and assign a FAIL.

I'm really enjoying my Jetstream. Mibox is ok tho. Jetstream is an upgrade

Just got my jetstream last night replacing my mi box. So far I really like it! I was going to run it on Ethernet but seems as though that means you can't cast, which I really like to do so I suppose I'll stay on 5ghz wifi. Either way haven't had any issues.
