Might get rid of MI Box and go Google Cast device only?

Casting on the original MI Box seems pretty crappy. Works sometimes others not.

Thinking abt getting the Google Cast device and going with that but want to know if it is bullet proof?

Can you advise?

Works pretty fine here. If you want a trade your Mi Box against at Chromecast 1st gen PM me :-) hehe

The top level cast device should ship with androidtv and a remote.

Just upgrade your box. Nvidia Shield Tv's chromecast works fine. The new Jetstream box sounds like a solid choice as well.

No problems casting with my mi box, however I had chromecast 2 before it and all I had was problems, which made me get the mi box.

Google cast devices performance are highly dependent on your network setup. If your issues stem from the network, getting a /r/Chromecast won't solve your problems, only worsen them. Fix your network first.

Casting on the original Mi Box is kinda crappy, it's not always-on like a real Chromecast. I still have my CC2 on my 1080p TV and it's still going strong.
