Android TV. What is a good sub $50 unit. Plus can use all google play store apps

by tekjock

Hi,

I'm looking for a Android TV box so I can stream DC Universe. I have android phone and tablet and the streaming of DC Universe sucks. so I want to get a Android TV to work around that and maybe play some games on the TV.

Thanks in advance!

The cheapest official Android TV device is the MiBox S, which is ~$59 from Walmart.

There's the Mi Box (and Mi Box S), the Jetstream box, and the Shield TV. Those are basically your only options for Android TV.

The original mibox is on clearance at Walmart for $30 of available

I think you might be thinking that those Android junkboxes are an option but they run Android and not Android TV. If you want an Android TV device (which is what this subreddit is about) then buy a Mi Box or a Shield. If you want an Android box, find another subreddit to ask.

I doubt you find anything satisfactory at that price point.

You can't use all playstore apps with any Android TV, only apps specifically designed for TV. What you might be looking for is a junkbox (aka Android TV Box). This sub don't cover those unfortunately.
