Surprised nobody has mentioned PIP support, a feature which used to be there.
Options for playback speed would also be great.
They also need to enable YouTube Red for those of us using brand accounts. Because I manage multiple YouTube channels and use a brand account the Android and Smart TV apps continue to show me ads. Drives me nuts.
System keyboard support. The garbage onscreen keyboard is a joke. Anyone who want to find a video in a language that doesn't use the English alphabet is out of luck.
Being able to read and choose links in the video description. I watch a lot of videos that have links to other videos but there is no way for me to view them or choose them from the AndroidTV app...

I think they either downmix the audio to stereo which is why you can't download surround sound audio tracks using youtube-dl or they somehow store the file so that it's only avaliable internally.

I think technically the app and the cast app are different code, but the cast app lacks the ability to remember that I turned off the closed captions on the previous video, and can't handle 30+ watched videos in the queue.

Maybe something a bit different, also connected with YT on Android TV - do you guys also have similar recently uploaded and suggested for you videos? I honestly have almost the same videos all the time in both of those rows.

Kodi's YouTube plugin is much better in this respect.
I'd just like to be able to order my subscriptions so I don't have to scroll down alphabetically. Or just have my 5 most viewed channels stay on top of my recently viewed channels stay on top.

Think there was a mini update today. You can now add video to playlists. Start the video, scroll over to those three dots and press it, and then click on the plus button.
