FitzyTV is what Live Channels should have been

by Waggmans

I've been trying to get Xfinity's app working properly on my Shield for years. It's ok as it is but you have to navigate with a mouse. I also just moved recently and lost the OTA locals, I can no longer receive them from my new house.

I just discovered FitzyTV, which integrates both Xfinity's live streaming channels with Locast for the locals complete with an EPG. It's very basic right now but it does what I needed it to do.

It's amazing it took me over 3 years to find an app like this for the Shield.

And no I don't work for them, I'm just amazed I finally found an EPG that lets me finally use both Xfinity's Stream channels with locals and be able to navigate properly.

Thanks /u/Waggmans! I'm the developer behind FitzyTV - let me know if you have any feedback. Working on the roadmap now so let me know if there's anything you'd like to see in the next release.

Here's the direct link to the app for anyone that's interested in checking it out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fitzytv.android

Also I've been working on a way to get the word out, but I'm hardly a marketing expert. If anyone here has any ideas please let me know. Thanks!

This app looks very promising. Can't wait to get home and try it. Thanks for the heads up!

I agree with you. The app is awesome.

Interesting. I wonder if this would work with fios!?

This is obviously very interesting. Channel tuning is a little slow, but not bad. The only real problem I see for me is that my local channels are all screwed up, None correspond to their local order. I'm using locast and Verzion Fios. Same numbering for locals. Video quality seems good. Sports are fluid.

I just added Youtube TV to providers, it is definitely missing channels like MSG, SNY, NBA TV, MLB TV, YES and some others. It also seems like there is is a limit of only 2 providers at a time.

Some suggestions:

Better Oreo integration for Android TV

Respond to remote commands like Kodi and Live Channels do.(Guide button, direct channel entry, channel up and down, etc)

A way to organize and remap channels. I just can't deal with ABC on Channel 4.

This would be tedious to do for each app install like Live Channels makes you do. This would be better if it could be done online so your profile could be saved and applied to all app installations.

Standard iptv integration like tvirl, at least for US channels. But this is wishful thinking.

A big Plus: I'm getting news channels which I'm not subscribed to! Woohoo. I'm very happy to donate to this project after a few quirks are worked out. Excellent work so far!

It's missing a lot of local channels and I can't search channels but it's a cool way to watch none the less. I'll have to keep an eye on it.

Doesn't work on mi box 3 with Philo TV - it lets me log in with the account and shows all the channels but they're from the wrong markets and none of them will work - also it list channels such as CNN and fox that aren't even part of Philo

Is there an official sub for Fitzy?

Lajuane8

I just wanted to write that FitzyTV now has a reddit sub. Nothing there yet, but a good place to discuss the promising program.

Fitzy is fine; Locast is the problem with constant donation interruptions. Just saw that Locast has a stand alone app on playstore. Maybe someone can mod the app to eliminate the donations (ads)??? That would be very appreciated.
