You can mount SMB shares on the Shield from the Storage section of the Preferences menu. That'd probably be the easiest way to do it.
I've been looking to do this as well. My search has come up that it is a limitation with android and/or the shield. Maybe a future update will allow this. For now i'm just using a SD card set for internal and downloading there. Once done, manually transferring it to my NAS. Kinda Painful but at least its doable.
