So much faster than the Nexus and MiBox. The only thing that can match its ability to play back live TV through my HDHomerun, would be a Raspberry Pi, but you dont get streaming services with the Pi, just Kodi.

Yeah, I bought two when Target had that glitch for $85 each. Sold my Apple TV 4K and Roku Ultra. Best media player so far.
It definitely is. I bought it and sold the dot on eBay for $40. $100 for a Shield is amazing.
So, I've upgraded my router to an rt-ac86u, still had buffering of 4k on plex on every device I tried. Mi box? Buffering. PS4, Xbox 1 S, lg webos Plex app? All buffering. I've sat down and thought about upgrading my gaming PC so I could move my 7700k to the Plex server, even though these files are only being served, not transcoded, the buffering was driving me crazy.
Anyway, decided to last ditch try the Nvidia shield and it solved everything. Super high bitrate mkv files play like butter.

The Shield is definitely worth the price. The free echo is the cherry on top.
Is live channels free? What channels do you get? I have a cheaper android TV box. I only use it for movies and free live tv. Do you think I should upgrade?
Can you tell us if some of the games which disappeared or stopped working on the Nexus Player or the MiBox are working on the Shield? I mean games like Dan the Man and Horizon Chase. I know there is all sorts of other stuff available.
You won't regret it, especially if you take advantage of running a Plex media server from it!

Yes, the shield is god tier as far as streaming boxes go. I have two of them. I haven't tested how well the Echo's work with it, but the Shield has native google home support (and actually has google assistant built in).
When I Haight mine a few months ago, it came with a Google Home Mini instead.

I have always thought the mix of the exho dot and the shield is kind og stupid. Dont get me wrong, it is a good deal even without the echo dot.

I love the amazon’s over google assist. However the dot sound quality sucks. I bought the wireless version. You can take it with you and use it as a Bluetooth speaker too.
Oh the shield is most definitely worth it! I used to be a PC Gamer and it's great I can get back into it without a pc using GeForce Now. The speed and reliability of the shield to play games, watch live TV and do just about everything is unmatched. Makes my entertainment setup complete
