2 Factor Authentication / Google Titan USB Security Key

by TexBluBoy

Has anyone had any luck using your USB security key to authorize your device / 2 Factor Authentication?

I am using the Channel Master Stream+ and I have the Google Titan security key, when I follow the steps for authorization (inserting key into USB port), I get to the screen to insert my key. Once I insert the key, it lights up green (does not flash). When I press the button, nothing happens - seems to not recognize the USB key.

Anyone else have any experience setting this up?

I think most people do not use 2FA for their living room device.

I don't think Android TV has the required drivers. Currently, FIDO authentication works on non-TV Android if you install the Google Authenticator app, and even then, only with Chrome. I tried sideloading both to my TV and it still didn't work. You could try pairing through Bluetooth.

Assuming you have advanced protection turned on with Google? If that's what you're trying to do and the above doesn't work, then you could try removing your Google account and setting it up again with your phone. This may require a factory reset to get the Android TV to prompt you to set up with your phone. This was the only way I was able to get it working.
