Shield TV hands down. Its not so much about picture quality but smooth playback (the mibox can't hack it).
You can either install Plex Media server on your laptop or you can play back the movies from Kodi via SMB sharing.
Better have decent lan speeds on your laptop though (ethernet or 802.11ac)
