Xiaomi Mi Box 4K - Custom resolution?

by StarfighterFoxtrot

Hey guys, Im running a little project. I have 3x Professional displays from LG and they are all 1920x1080 each but Im going to have them stacked in landscape and run the video via DP on a daisychain. This tells the HDMI via its EDID its going to be 1920 x 3240

This is fine and works great... BUT will the Mi Box show this resolution? Will it auto fit?

FYI: I have 1920 x 3240 content...

Thanks!

I'm just curious about the content

That sounds strange to me. When you daisy chain dp displays, they just forward data to other displays but they does not act as one single display. So the "magic" happens on compluter side as it uses them as extended displays.

But it would be even more strange if the dp display would convert the chained dislays to one and also convert hdmi data to dp. I saw there are display walls with similar feature, but those should have additional electronic for doing that, I guess.

What LG display model do you have exactly?

Usually android devices over hdmi are supporting only limited types of resolutions. Usually they are only know CEA modes

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_Display_Identification_Data#CEA_EDID_Timing_Extension_data_format_-_Version_3

while computer display drivers are also know more flexible DMT modes.

If someone has a display with non-cea resolution (eg 2560x1440) maybe if that shows up in mibox correctly, other stranger resolutions may also usable.
