Why am I having so many problems with my Abox A4?

by Seinfelds-van

I am having many issues with my Abox A4 running Android 7.1 that I got about 6 months ago.

It won't play Amazon video. It just gives a "Unable to play at this time" error. The service works fine on my laptop and Android tablet.

Google play store lists many apps, such as "Configurator for Kodi" as incompatible with the device. It doesn't even show up in the play store. I can see it on my tablet fine.

Kodi Add ons won't install because of "missing dependencies". I've followed instructions on how to rectify this but nothing has worked.

You Tube videos often play in what looks like the vertical mode rather than horizontal. The videos are squashed on the sides. It just randomly does this.

I have tried doing a total factory reboot once and nothing changed, It has made trying to watch TV very frustrating.

Because you bought a cheap Chinese crap box not an android tv device

JimboLodisC

That's an Android junkbox running a cobbled together version of Android that takes touchscreens as input.

This sub is for official devices running the Android TV operating system which was created by Google specifically for the living room experience.

Sponplat

This sub is for official Android TV devices, not generic android boxes.

Try r/androidtvboxes

Reason #6403 to avoid generic undifferentiated devices with bastardized phone/tablet interfaces
