My kids have somehow lost the remote and I fucking hate using a touchscreen as a remote. HDMI-CEC works but IR is also garbage lol.
I used to see them on Amazon all the time but now I don't see any that are under $100... Anyone know where I can find one? I don't care if it's the rechargeable one or not.
Just buy the new FireTV remote with the volume control. Works a treat for the Shield (every button is mapped, including the voice).
Why is there not a locate remote function by default now
I just got my Shield TV yesterday and won't be using the remote. I'll likely be using a Harmony hub setup. PM me if you want to work something out.

I use that remote for my shield. It has voice but u have to hold the mic button while u speak. I have athedongle attached to a USB extension cable so it faces TV to reduce latency in cursor mode.
The Minix has worked well for us.
How is ir garbage?
I rarely use mine. I use Harmony hub with a companion remote. Voice doesn't work with it, but other than that think it's better. You can still use the controller for voice if you need it.
The Shield TV remote is terrible anyway with that volume touch slider thing that triggers whenever you don't want it to and the CR2032 batteries.
You can actually pair a Mi Box or Fire TV remote with it, just fyi.
Are there any remotes where voice works? The mic stopped working on my 2017 remote and I'd like to replace it with something else.
