After that bullshit with the food scanners I don't trust this dude for impartiality anymore.
Dam No Atmos support.
Pretty sure he was just reading the stat sheet, but it works.
I'd take this more seriously if some of the latest updates weren't breaking my mi box weekly.
It's hurting Shield TV police on this forum and I love it!
Lon makes everything seem the same. He finds a rare "weak" point and exploits again and again. I respect him he has a method but I disagree with that method/approach on other products too.
A few years previous you need a powerful PC to run 4K 60. Now with $60 you have 4K 60 HDR. Even you can force HDR ON Always in settings like Apple TV. Also it is a hub with Chromecast, $3-4 apps add iOS Airplay screen mirroring and video playing and it is Assistant enabled for every room controlling you smart home. Assistant works now with latest update better.
Linus review is down to earth. For the everyday person who wants to access legally plethora of apps with a modern, small and discreet device.
It's not from a geeky basement of his house with the background full of Apple products or Shield TV and Homerun HD special love.
But Lon said:
"Oh look doesn't emulate PS2 games well"
"Oh look Kodi with 50 add-on is sluggish" Kodi is sluggish everywhere.
"Oh look it doesn't play some exotic codec"
"Oh look the $60 astonishingly small media player don't support Dolby Atmos" for your $4000 set up.
"Oh look doesn't support many ports" Of course my friend it's small, fast and powerful. It has the necessary. That's the purpose. That's the marketing.
Don't bother with Chromecast, buy a media player that plays 4K 60 no 1080 30. Chromecast is built-in too.
For us who can't or don't want to buy the overpriced and repacked with old same CPU Shield TV. Don't buy Chromecast buy an official and safe Android TV with voice remote and Assistant that featured on Google's Android TV site.
Sidenote: The new Android TV 8.0 cuts the unnecessary from Android OS and it is optimized well for very low devices. As it should be. The performance on same hardware on Android TV is exponential upwards and I hope the same for Wear OS.
The End: This box is more than enough powerfull to run the well optimized new OS. It's a media player and it plays 4K 60 flawlessly.
Fuck Linus. His reviews are shallow uninformed bullshit.
