Sony x800e suddenly dropping most frames on streaming video apps

by optimisskryme

On YouTube and Twitch apps my TV has started consistently dropping frames (looks like videos are 10fps as opposed to 30 or 60) when videos are set to "auto". It starts to happen after a video has been playing for a little while. It doesn't seem to be a bandwidth issue because choosing the highest bitrate, say 1080p60, they will play fine.

Any idea what might be going on? I've only seen it happen in those two apps, not Hulu or Amazon, but then I don't use them as much. Any guesses are much appreciated!

Answer: Sony x800e

(I honestly wished this wasn't the real answer. But I gave up trying to fix that dumpster fire of an experience and got a Shield TV)

I have this issue on mine and the only solution is to reboot the tv under the settings menu. Dropped frames and slow menu usually get fixed for me by rebooting once a week.
