My Mibox 3 (updated to whatever the last build number was) crapped out again last week. Froze, died, "mi" splash boot loop, and then no signal at all were the symptoms. Gave it some time off and plugged it back in this morning, still no signal. Tried several unplug cycles and got back to the Mi splash boot loop. Reinstalled 2179 from a thumb stick to low and behold a functional box. NOW.... Caveat time. Who knows how long this will last so I'm not bothering much with adding apps. I'll use it sparingly for YouTube and what not until Xiaomi releases another update. I currently have a notification to go back on the latest official build but I'm going to hold out for a while. With all that said, lots of folks are thinking hardware issues(myself included) but I'm no longer sure about that. Maybe Xiaomi will actually put out a stable build for these boxes as it seems it totally software related. I could have sent mine in for replacement but at this point it's become a kind of train wreck game to see how long it stays functional.
TLDR; rolling back sorta "fixed" the Mibox... maybe there's hope? Nah let's keep resetting for fun!! Yay?
I have a dead mibox 3 I'd like to try this on, is there a tutorial somewhere?
