As the title says, can anyone with a MiBox S confirm that the upgraded wifi + bt chip in the S model is good enough for local 4K streaming?
If not, can anyone recommend a decent usb etherned adapter that works with the S?
I'm getting mine next week.

Have you considered Power Line adapters? $40 gets a pair, gigabit speeds and setup is like pairing up a Bluetooth device. Course then you have to add $10 for a USB Ethernet adapter ... that runs at USB 2.0 speeds.
Edit: maybe a WiFi extender is a better option.
4K streaming on Mi Box S on Wifi works no problem. I have use it on Netflix 4K, YouTube 4K, Kodi addons Gaia and Seren with debrid services Real-Debrid and premiumize streaming cached 4K torrents Movies works no problem.
There are simply too many variables when using WiFi for anything.
What will work for one person will be shit for all others.
4K is even worse due to the high bitrates involved.
Reliable 4K High Bitrate Bluray Rips home networked streaming needs hardwired Gigabit Ethernet.
Most people buy the Ugreen USB3 > Gigabit USB Hub adapter.
Personally I would not use the Mi Box for 4K local streaming.
Gigabit equipped LibreELEC Kodi devices do a far better job.
Even the 100mbit Ethernet equipped Jetstream 4K Ultra HD would have been a better buy.
Not really issues start when Video file has bitrate above 40Mbps most of Netflix hdr 4k content doesnt exceed it but full BRUHD do
Most likely not. All these cheaper boxes have horrible wifi cards in them. You're better off running a wifi extender with an Ethernet out or just running an Ethernet cable to it.
Are you talking about like streaming from your computer to the mi box? I stream from a Plex server and it's strong enough, but my router, server, and mi box are all essentially in the same room
