Mi box S or the Jetstream ?

by abeel_siddiqui

So both boxes are quite similar ... Jetstream have more ports but since its an unpopular brand am really skeptical ...my main use would be YouTube Plex and Netflix....please help me out on what to get...and ya i would be streaming in 1080p so the whole 4K thing is not a problem for me

jetstream has had zero problems in my house. i see lots of complaints about mibox. don't see any about jetstream.

The Jetstream seemed a bit better to me. It is definitely a little smoother then the Mibox S. However deinterlacing and wifi were a problem for me with both. On the Jetstream wifi would randomly disconnect. But there is no sleep bug. Unfortunately mine went heywire and just started mucking up video. I'm tired of hard resets. Shields and firestick 4ks for me now.

I have both and prefer the Jetstream. For live TV the deinterlacing is much better on the Jetstream. Also the Jetstream is much smoother when navigating.

It's Walmart, so buy both and return the worst of the two later.

I don't know anything about Jetstream, but Mi Box has been good for me with the most recent OS update.

Only need Plex or Kodi then get a AMLogic S9xx device and run LibreELEC or CoreELEC Kodi on it and then use the Kodi for Plex Addon or the PlexKodiConnect Addon:

https://forum.libreelec.tv/board/38-amlogic/

Those combos will be far superior with auto refresh and auto resolution switching and stable working HD audio output with high quality deinterlacing. Avoid all the cheap Android TV OS devices if you are only going to use Kodi or Plex.

This thread over on Kodi forums has a LOT of good info about the best Media Players:

As an example the Dual Boot Mecool M8S Pro L is the most flexible device for what you want.

Don't get either and get a Shield or something. I just bought a Jetstream to replace my problematic Mibox 3. Unfortunately it appears to be defective since whenever the device is moved or touched I get a frozen screen displaying static lines and loud constant beep sound. I was really hoping this device would be great and all for simple Kodi 1080p streaming I need to do, but I'm gonna have to return it.

So I just ended up factory resetting my Mibox 3 yet again and updating it the newest firmware. It's actually working fine for now, but IF it freezes again I'm gonna get something else that's neither a Mibox nor a Jetstream, fuck these cheap devices.
