Advice on how to parent proof android tV

by Andriusdude

Hello, I come here to ask you about any way to “parent proof” Android TV (Oreo, Mi Box), let me explain my issue.

My parents only watch TV using the Live Channels (loaded with a custom .m3u from TVirl), the thing is that they sometimes long press over the apps on the Favorites row and they remove Live Channels from there (after that they don’t know how to add it again), they also have uninstalled apps while wandering into Play Store and have even entered Android TV’s safe mode once or twice.

How can I prevent the “long press menu” from appearing at all so they don’t remove Live Channels from there?

Thanks!

I got my in laws a harmony hub and custom mapped the buttons. It won't hell on the uninstall front but you can stop them from long pressing. The Harmony hub has stopped 99% of phone calls for help.

You can remap buttons. Button mapper by flar 2 is good.

My family does similar crap. We sometimes face time with their camera pointed to their tv so i can work them thru the fix.
