How can I control my Mibox S with Logitech harmony?

by relink2013

I have read numerous cases of people controlling their Mibox with a Logitech harmony remote. From my understanding the Mibox S does have an IR receiver.

I am using the Logitech Harmony 350. But it doesn’t work at all. I have tried the profiles for the Mibox 3, Mibox 3 4K, and the Mibox Pro.

Any help is appreciated.

Odd. It was a fast and easy pair for me.

The Mi Box S doesn't have an ir receiver afaik. You would need a hub based harmony.

I really wanna know if it indeed does have an IR receiver?

According to the specs, it’s does not. But from everything I’ve read online it does. So I’m not 100% sure.

If it doesn’t have an IR receiver would it be possible to use a Flirc to get proper control?

I don't know about the Mi Box S (because I only have the previous 4K Mi Box), but I can control it with my Harmony 350, only the basic keys like directional pad, ok and return work properly, the thing is that sometimes the Mi Box doesn't wake up from standby (but that is a general operating system bug, nothing to do with the remote).

In fact I bought a Flirc so I could fully configure it, using the Flirc I can operate the direction keys, OK button, number keys, etc, (you can even create macros using the Flirc command line interface if you need).

For better support without the Flirc (for example number keys) your best is to write emails to Google and Xiaomi support and ask them to add the infrared codes to the operating system.

harmony 350 owner here if you have hdmi cec on you can use the "tv remote" to control the mi box so you don't have to program the remote to control the mediabox, only the tv (and the audio system, if you have one)... hdmi cec will do the rest

one thing though, some you wil non have the "long press" option or the home button but it will do the trick anyway

I have the mi box s with the Smart home hub and Harmony remote and I just selected the Nvidia shield TV device in the harmony device setup and the remote works perfectly with the mi box s. I found that suggestion somewhere else on the internet and it works perfectly.

It does, but I also added an additional button click for the okay button just to force it. However, after a while I realized I was having trouble with the mibox after it woke up. As a result I went into developer mode on the mibox in disabled the go to sleep option. This solved all my problems.you can Google how to disable the sleep option but I believe it was something like going to the version number and clicking the okay button 6 x 20 developer mode and then when he went into we options you had a additional option for sleep of never.
