Recording live tv

by Swanseajack71

I've just bought a hd homerun to stream live tv over the network, is there a way of recording a programme, like a pvr function apart from paying for a plex pass etc Can kodi do it? I have both a mi box 3 and a sheild.

Can't the Live Channels app do what you need?

The hdhomerun software can do it. I think you pay $35 a year. The superior Channels DVR is $8 a month or $80 a year and allows you to install their app on all devices. I have a Plex lifetime pass, but it's interface for live tv and recordings is not very good.

Deinterlacing on ALL AMLogic based Android TV devices using Live Channels, the HDHomerun App or Kodi Krypton is lousy.

It results in half motion output and either stutters or displays as a dull picture vs what you would be able to get out of a regular TV tuner from an actual TV.. Avoid that combo would be my advice.

Free TvHeadend server software can run on a NAS or external Linux / Intel media player and link in with the HdHomeRun. Kodi has a TvHeadend viewing client that can control that PVR software.

It is not Plug n Play however.

Elbow grease required !

As suggested if you want Plug n Play investigate the well sorted - Channels DVR.
