Sorry to hear that but no problems for me. Update was quick, updated the Shield and (shit) remote quickly, very fast and reliable update so far.
I am having a similar problem.
Shield was acting up when watching a movie on Plex today. After Plex crashed several times I finally decided to restart the Shield TV (2015) and now it is stuck in a bootloop. I get the nvidia logo and as soon as it hits the android logo animation it freezes and then reboots and does the same thing over and over again.
My update went ok (a few days back) however tonight I noticed that it was stuck in a boot loop. I pulled the power for 30 seconds or so and then connected it up again. This time it got past the boot loop but was really slow and sluggish. I pulled the power again for longer this time and it came back good. Will reset to factory defaults tomorrow and set it up again. Will monitor it and feedback should there be further issues.

Nope. Went smooth on both of mine.
