Seems solved: Kodi on MiBox occasionally stops for buffering?

by deviantnights

>>>edit: Solved below<<<

Device MDZ-16-AB, Oreo build 2396, Kodi 17.6, on 5 GHz. Speed tests show minimum 300 Mbit/s. NAS HDD.

Watching 60 min episode, which is just 400 MB. And all of a sudden, it will stop and cache / buffer, which happens like 4-5-6 times over the 60 min. Same qty of stops for a 5-10 GB movie of 120 min...

I don't really understand. Anyone?

>>> Now I believe the problem was solved thanks to firsthour here. You need to do this:

What nobody says is that in Kodi 17.6 the file manager shows different folders, you need to copy or move the .xml you just created in folder "Profile directory" . Of course you need to restart Kodi. And that's all. I'd reboot the miBox as well. You know you did it when you start seeing the white buffer on Kodi's player timeline. For a couple of days now watching smoothly. :)

So out of the examples listed did you go with 4 as suggested?

I've not had to do any of that with mine. I mostly use the boxes for Kodi to play video files from my NAS or desktop computer (on the home network). Both Miboxes connect on Google WiFi 5GHz band and steadily get over 400Mbps speeds. Both Miboxes were updated to whatever the last OTA update has been. I did replace my main MiBox with a Shield, but it is still running Kodi and there's no buffering using Kodi's standard settings. Perhaps your settings are just making up for a substandard WiFi signal from your router.

Use Kodi 18 RC3, massive improvement to 17
